MSMD Launches its Campaign of Training of Journalists on Minorities’ Issues and Peacebuilding

MSMD has launched its first workshop of a series of training courses for journalists on the mechanisms of writing about the minorities’ issues and peacebuilding. The first workshop in the meeting hall of MSMD in Baghdad, with the participation of 19 journalists from various media, written and audio-visual.

The trainers who presented the training are specialists in the fields of media, researchers on minority issues, and clergymen such as Father Muyassar, Mrs. Nadia Fadhil, DG of Sabie Mandeans Endowments Council, and Dr. Khalil al-Jundi, a specialist in the history of Yazidism.

Participants received some training on the analysis of some samples of journalistic writing on minorities, and the stereotypical images presented by media coverages and the ways to know the other, and the mechanisms of writing about dogmas and religions.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop continued for two days is one of five workshops to be conducted this year in the context of the project titled “Youths of Mesopotamia: Democratic Rule, Social Cohesion and Reconciliation in Iraq”  supported by EU and executed in cooperation with Al-Maluma Center for Research and Development.
