Baghdad – April 24, 2026
Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development affirmed, during its participation in the events marking the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Baghdad at Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church, its continued commitment to documenting major human tragedies, highlighting its research and organizational legacy that extends for more than a decade in this field.
The foundation also highlighted its historic efforts that reached their peak in 2015, coinciding with the centenary of the genocide, when it presented major intellectual and organizational contributions, most notably its documentary series “One Hundred Years of Genocide,” published in 2015.
Masarat also recalled publishing a “special expanded file” on the genocide, which included critical readings, testimonies, and translations by international researchers, aiming to move the القضية from the sphere of the Armenian community’s local memory to the wider space of cultural awareness in Iraq and the Arab region.
In addition to its publications, Masarat emphasized its active role in organizing the centenary events, as the foundation was a key partner in organizing conferences and memorial gatherings in 2015, bringing together academics, diplomats, and activists in Baghdad.
The foundation also contributed to linking the issue of the Armenian Genocide with contemporary Iraqi diversity issues, emphasizing that acknowledging the tragedies of the past is the only path toward achieving constitutional citizenship and protecting pluralism.
This remembrance reaffirms that the role of Masarat Foundation goes beyond news monitoring to building a body of knowledge that opposes genocide and celebrates the resilience of authentic identities in the face of erasure and oblivion.
