Forming a Nucleus of a Religious Alliance to Combat Hatred Discourse

A group of Muslim, Christian and Yazidi clergymen agreed on forming a front to combat the hatred discourse produced by religious pulpits and platforms.Twenty-one clergymen who met in MCMD agreed on the importance of confronting hatred discourse made by some clergymen which incites hatred against the other, or using violence against the other who is religiously or culturally different from their own religious dogma.Participants in the meeting highlighted the importance of confronting such speeches posted in the social media pages of those clergymen, which would definitely impact the recipients and viewers of social media whether intellectually or emotionally. They also asserted that such discourse threatens the civil peace and escalates tensions and violence levels. It is expected that this team shall continue its work in the forthcoming days to increase the base of membership of this religious alliance so as to include all religions, sects and doctrines, and develop a strategy to combat the religious hate speeches, and this team work shall be complementary to that of the media team for combating hatred discourse.
