In a bid to protect belief and religious freedoms, Masarat has launched a number of workshops within the framework of drafting a document of principles.

A number of religious representatives, parliamentarian and legal experts have discussed principles of religious and belief freedoms in Iraq. This took place in the first workshop that Masarat held in Baghdad as part of workshops will be held in southern and northern parts of Iraq. This project aims to declare a principles document contains signatures of religious, political and civilian leaders. The primary goal of that document is to lessen sectarianism in post-ISIS Iraq. The workshops try to bring consensus of different views on that document. Satar Jabar al-Hilo, Mandaeans chief in Iraq and the world, said the that current situation in Iraq encourages minority marginalization, adding that the document is a key to respecting minority’s rights documented in international covenants as a starting point towards a national framework in the form of parliamentarian law promoting minority’s rights in Iraq. The attendees gave many suggestions that contributed to promoting the document.
