Launching series of workshops “resolving conflicts” faced by minorities

Masarat Foundation launched series of workshops on “Social Mediation to Resolve Conflicts Facing Minorities” in various regions of Iraq. On April 30th 2016 three workshops were held in the south of Iraq and in the Kurdistan region at the same time, The first workshop was in Basra, as supervised by the activist, “Ammar Jassim” representative of Iraqis of African descent his workshop was held in the Zubayr region, which is the most important stronghold of Iraqis of African descent in the province of Basra, with the participation of 18 activists. The workshop focused on the legal framework for resolving conflicts in the minority community,with a comprehensive explanation of how to build social bridges with tribal and religious leaders and notables of the province or local leaders in the region or village in order to facilitate the resolution of conflicts faced by minorities,the second workshop was in the province of Kurdistan, supervised by the Yezidi activist “Myasar Al-Adani” in Essien camp hall near Baadhra township (70 Km south east city of Dohuk) in Sheikhan district, with the participation of more than 25 Yazidi activist, with the participation of “HaimanFarajKhaeri” specialized inhuman rights who provided the legal framework for resolving the conflict and the problems of young people, especially on social networking. Then the journalist “Saad Baber” gave training on the role of civil society in resolving conflicts between the displaced people and the host community. As for the third workshop, it was held in the district of Amadiyah (70 km north of Dohuk City), where “SallamSallo” held his workshop, with the participation of 20 Yezidi activists,The workshop began by presenting the minorities in Iraq to the participants and its role inlife, culture and development. The workshop also gave a presentation of legal ways to resolve conflicts that involves conflict resolution,the Participants also discussed with the trainer the mechanisms to resolve community conflicts through tribal traditions and mechanisms to deal withtribal and religioussymbols and partiesto solve societal conflicts.It should be noted that the “Social Mediation to Resolve Conflicts Facing Minorities” project, being with the cooperation between Masarat and HeartlandInternational Foundations in order to build the capabilities of minorities in facing conflicts in Iraq, through training more than 500 individuals from various minorities in Iraq.
