Workshop on Pluralism and Citizenship Holds in Basra

In collaboration with Hivos Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development held a wide workshop in the city of Az Zubair in Basra province on pluralism and promoting intercultural citizenship in Iraq. Saad Salloum gave explanations on diversity, intercultural citizenship, and his newly issued book, titled ‘ unity in diversity’. The workshop was attended by twenty-five Iraqi young people of African origins, a representative of the provincial council of Basra, and a number of civil society organizations dealing with Iraqis of African origins. The attendees were awarded with copies of Salloum’s book. On the other hand, Masarat expressed its willingness to provide the public library, lies in Az Zubair in Southeastern Basra, with its publications in a bid to develop it, so that it could benefit thousands of Basrians. Basra where most of Iraqis of African origins live is situated in the South of Iraq with 370000 people.
