Amid feelings of pain and sorrow, the participants learned about the meanings and symbols of the monument.
They also listened to stories of what the Yazidis endured during the genocide and observed a minute of silence in honor of the victims at the sites where the terrorist organization committed its heinous crimes against the Yazidi people near the monument.
From that site, the “Knights of Dialogue” agreed to urge local and international authorities to continue and intensify efforts to achieve transitional justice, determine the fate of the disappeared men and women, and increase efforts to open the mass graves, identify the victims, and compensate them in a way that preserves human dignity.
This activity comes within the framework of the “Education on Dialogue and Knowing the Other” program, launched by Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development in cooperation with KAICIID and Bayt al-Taayush.
It is worth noting that the “With Dialogue We Remain and Rise” camp started in Baghdad with the participation of youth from Sinjar, joined later by youth from Baghdad in its first phase. It then reached Basra, where young men and women from Basra joined the team, which later moved to Dhi Qar, then the Nineveh Plain, and afterwards entered the Old City of Mosul, eventually reaching the city of Sinjar and its districts. The camp will soon continue its tour across other Iraqi cities, aiming to promote dialogue as a mechanism for peacebuilding among followers of religions and to reject hate speech.
