As part of the activities of the “Through Dialogue, We Remain and Rise” camp, participants arrived in the city of Sinjar to begin their three-day program.
The Knights of Dialogue started their camp at the House of Coexistence, the strategic partner in the Dialogue and Understanding Others program, organized by the Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development in cooperation with KAICIID.
The team was welcomed by Dr. Mirza Dnaii, founder of the House of Coexistence, along with several Yazidi activists at the center.
The activities began upon arrival with an introductory tour highlighting the symbols, mission, and various programs of the House of Coexistence. Camp participants also explored the covered agriculture project supported by the House, designed to facilitate the lives of displaced families returning to their areas, especially those led by women.
Dr. Dnaii provided a summary of tree-planting and afforestation campaigns aimed at combating climate change and desertification. These initiatives included creating long-lasting forests on Mount Sinjar with oak trees and distributing saplings of Sinjar figs and pomegranate trees to local farmers.
The “Through Dialogue, We Remain and Rise” camp started in Baghdad with youth from Sinjar, later joined by youth from Baghdad in its first phase. It then continued in Basra, Dhi Qar, the Nineveh Plain, and the Old City of Mosul, before reaching Sinjar. The camp will continue its tour across other Iraqi cities as part of a program aimed at promoting dialogue as a means to build peace among followers of different religions and to reject hate speech.
