Dr. Saad Salluom, the General Coordinator ofMasarat Foundation, presented a summary of the experience of the Center for Monitoring and Countering Hate Speech at Masarat Foundation, sharing its data and strategies across three consecutive stops in Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, and Duhok.
The first stop was in Sulaymaniyah, where he participated in the international conference “The Kurdish Genocide and Its Reflections in Literature, Art, and Media”, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He delivered an intensive presentation on monitoring hate speech against the Yazidi community.
In Halabja, he took part in a discussion panel on “The Role of Academics and Media in Teaching the Genocide”, organized by the Center for Genocide Research at Halabja University, presenting a perspective on the relationship between hate speech and genocide.
At the third stop in Duhok, he proposed national strategies to address hate speech during the conference titled “The Role of Youth in Coexistence and Countering Hate Speech”, sponsored by the Supreme Youth Council and the NGO Department in the Iraqi Council of Ministers.
