Masarat Foundation extends its congratulations to Dr. Archbishop Yousef Touma, Head of the Archdiocese of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah for the Chaldeans, on the occasion of his birthday.
Last year, Masarat awarded Archbishop Touma the Citizenship Award, in recognition of his role in promoting citizenship and coexistence among the components of Iraqi society.
Dr. Touma is one of the most prominent cultural figures in Iraq. He founded the University of Baghdad for Human Sciences, presided over the Christian Thought Journal, the oldest continuously published Iraqi periodical, and developed Christian education curricula for Iraqi schools over a period of fifteen years, in addition to teaching at Babylon College of Theology.
He has authored and translated numerous works in French and English. Today, he serves the diverse Iraqi communities in Kirkuk Governorate as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah for the Chaldeans.
Archbishop Touma has also contributed to Masarat Foundation for twenty years as its senior advisor, and is one of the leading minds behind the foundation’s initiatives and projects aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue in Iraq.
