Participants in the Education for Dialogue and Understanding the Other camp arrived at the Al-Jabayish Marshes in Nasiriyah.
The Knights of Dialogue toured the reeds and papyrus in local boats through the marshes, which are listed as World Heritage Sites and are considered the cradle of Sumerian civilization, still standing today despite drought and global warming challenges.
The camp participants, organized by Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development in cooperation with KAICIID Arabic and House of Coexistence, learned about the types of birds and animals living in the marsh waters and listened to the local residents about the main challenges they face.
It is noteworthy that the “Through Dialogue We Remain and Rise” camp began in Baghdad with the participation of youth from Sinjar, later joined by youth from Baghdad in its first phase, then reached Basra where local youth joined the team. The camp has now arrived in Dhi Qar and will soon continue its tour in other Iraqi cities as part of a program aimed at promoting dialogue as a tool for building peace among followers of different religions and combating hate speech.
