Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development in collaboration with Heartland Alliance International has wrapped up “Building capabilities to face violence against minorities” workshop that lasted for three consecutive days with the participation of fourteen activist representatives of Iraqi minorities, representing various regions of Iraq from Basra to Dohuk. The program focused on developing the capabilities of Iraqi minorities to face conflicts and violence, specialist trainers participated in the workshop they were: legal expert “Abbas Al-Sharifi” who gave training on minority rights in international law, and the anthropologist “Ahmad Al-Mubarqaa” gave training on facing Minorities conflicts with tribes, Sheikh “Jihad al-Asadi” who gave training on the sources of religious conflicts, “Ibrahim Abadi” general director in the Iraqi Interior Ministry gave training about the nature of dealing with non-governmental armed groups and how to develop the performance of security agencies in this regard. As the researchers “SaadSalloum” and “Khalil Jundi” gave definition of religious and ethnic diversity of Iraqi society. And the trainees will continue to transfer this experience to other trainees in different provinces by training 560 trainees from various other Iraqi minorities.
