Saad Salloum, General Coordinator of MCMD, is awarded Stefanus International Prize, a prize awarded to individuals for their outstanding contributions to defend the freedom of belief or religion, as stipulated in Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The prize is established in 2005 by Stefanus Alliance International, Norwegian NGO, and is being biennially awarded 2008. The first one to receive Stefanus Prize was the Orthodox Coptic Archbishop Thomas of Egypt in 2005, and the last one who received it was Mine Yildirim, the Turkish expert of international protection of religious freedoms, in 2016. It is worth mentioning that Saad Salloum is one of the Founders of the Iraqi Interfaith Dialogue Council, and the National Center for Combating Hate Speeches in Iraq. He is an assistant professor in the College of Political Sciences, Mustansiriyya University, Iraq. He authored more than 14 books on the field of religious diversity in Iraq and Middle East.
