The General Coordinator of Masarat participated in the Regional Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief, organized by the Religions Foundation in partnership with the Norwegian Stefanus Alliance, which took place in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, from April 28 to 29, 2025, with the participation of more than 70 figures from 16 countries representing the South West Asia and North Africa region.
In his intervention, Saloum presented Masarat’s approach to recognizing unrecognized religious minorities, the levels of recognition that represent Masarat’s experience in interfaith dialogue, particularly Christian-Muslim dialogue, and interreligious dialogue in general. He also highlighted the level of citizenship education programs, the Institute for Religious Diversity Studies, and combating hate speech.
The conference brought together a select group of civil society activists, religious leaders, legal experts, and representatives of international organizations concerned with freedom of religion and belief, discussing the increasing challenges facing pluralistic communities in the region.
