Participants in the “In Dialogue We Stay and Rise” camp held an extensive meeting with Mr. Haidar Asfour, the head of the Zoroastrian Representation in Baghdad.
Mr. Asfour provided his guests with an explanation of Zoroastrianism and its concept of peace and dialogue, emphasizing their importance in Zoroastrian philosophy. The participants’ interventions included discussions on the commonalities between Zoroastrianism and other religions regarding the acceptance of others, freedom of religion and belief, and the significance of dialogue in enhancing understanding of others.
Asfour pointed out to his guests the dangers of the spread of hate speech that leads to takfir, betrayal, and questioning of origins and national affiliations, which result in migration and the loss of ethnic diversity that represents a true wealth for societies. He emphasized the role of youth in promoting dialogue as a mechanism for building peace in diverse communities.
