The Iraqi Council meets the Holy See deputy in Baghdad

The Iraqi Council for Interfaith Dialogue (ICID) met with Father José Nahum Jairo Salas Castañeda; the second secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See in Baghdad to discuss the current state of interfaith dialogue acts in Iraq, and the desired role the Holy See Embassy should take in this regard.Sayyed Jawad Al-Khoie, member of the council, has done a fully detailed presentation about the recent activities of ICID, highlighting the most important common areas that could be improved to sustain the diversity of Iraq.Whilst, Father Castañeda has expressed his intention to support all the ICID’s activities in the context of the reinforcement of civil peace and promotion of dialogue amongst followers from different religions in Iraq.Additionally, Dr. Amina Al-Dahabi; another member of ICID/the council has briefed the Deputy Nuncio about the leading activities of the department of women of the minorities and its future plans tackling the expected challenges they could face in the territories liberated from ISIS control.Furthermore, Father Amir Jaje op. demonstrated the role of religious men in the next stage (of conflict), assuring that the end of ISIS will be soon. Healing from their crimes will need much exerted efforts and must be led by religious men who should be moderate in their speech and influence.Also, Mr. Haydar Al-Khoei, a researcher in the European Council on Foreign Relations was present in this meeting.
