Minority’s Women Department Founded in Masarat Foundation

Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development declared that a Minority’s Women Department had been established on Sunday. This move came after a number of meetings held by preparatory committees to determine the department members and its activities. The Department comprises representatives of Yazidids, Mandaeans, Christians, and Baha’is. It is the first Department of its kind to deal with minority’s rights. Princess Amina B. Ismaeel, the boss of the Department, pointed out that the Department will concentrate on minority’s women, because they face enormous difficulties, Yazidi abducted women, for example. Nadia f. Migmas, a member of the Department as a representative of the Mandaeans, stressed that this Department will make minority’s women a team to defend the marginalized women amid Iraqi current religious and social traditions, and at the same time, it tries to give priority to minority’s women. Mishaal Mitte, a representative of the Christians, said the Department of a great importance, as it deals with a social class suffering from discrimination for being women on the one hand, and belong to minority groups in on the other hand. Masarat founded in 2005. It deals with defending minority’s rights, religious dialogue, and it is a founding member of Iraqi Council for Interfaith Dialogue.
